Robin Williams extends 'Self-Destruction' tour
Robin Williams will keep audiences rolling in the aisles into 2009, as he's added a second leg to his "Weapons of Self-Destruction Tour."
In late September, the award-winning comedian/actor launched his first stand-up comedy trek in six years, and he's been welcomed back to the road with sold-out shows and rave reviews, according to a press release. He continues Nov. 19 in Ottawa, Ontario, and will play multiple gigs in Toronto, Boston and Seattle before wrapping 2008 with a three-night stand in Vancouver.
Williams' newly added 2009 itinerary includes 18 US cities from coast to coast, and more dates are on the way, according to a news posting at his website. The new leg is currently set to kick off Feb. 11 in Santa Barbara, CA, and wrap March 18 in East Lansing, MI. An updated tour schedule is listed below and onsale dates can be found at Williams' website.
Williams last toured in 2002 when he returned to the stand-up scene after a 16-year hiatus and scored one of the highest-grossing comedy treks in history, according to a press release. That outing's final performance in New York City was filmed by HBO for the special "Robin Williams: Live on Broadway," which was nominated for five Emmy awards.
The performer--who has four Golden Globes, four Grammys and an Oscar on his mantle--is also keeping busy on the big-screen front. He'll star opposite John Travolta in the Disney comedy "Old Dogs," and reprise his roll as Teddy Roosevelt in the sequel "Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian."
