The Killers bring new 'Day' on early 2009 road trip

Alt-rockers The Killers have mapped out a headlining tour in January behind their new studio album, "Day & Age," which drops into stores Nov. 25.

The group has a couple of December appearances, including a Dec. 12 San Francisco show rescheduled from August, before it kicks off the early 2009 outing Jan. 17 in Denver, CO. The trip includes visits to 14 cities, and stretches into early February. Details are shown below.

The group worked with Scottish electronic-music whiz Stuart Price (Madonna, Missy Elliot) on "Day & Age," its third album and proper follow-up to 2006's "Sam's Town." The first single from the album, "Human," hit airwaves last month and can currently be heard streaming off The Killers' MySpace page.

"I was just trying to have it be a simple tune, with classic chord changes," singer Brandon Flowers told Rolling Stone recently about the origin of the song. "The way I described it to Stuart was--I remember saying this to him at dinner--'I got this thing, it's like Johnny Cash meets the Pet Shop Boys. Let's go record it.'"

The band released "Sawdust," a collection of studio outtakes and b-sides, last year.
