Scott Weiland delays 'Happy' solo trek
It looks like Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland has postponed his upcoming solo tour until early next year.
No official announcement has been made, but cities confirmed for November and December have now been moved to January and February at Weiland's website. The rescheduled 15-date outing will cover most of the same US markets that were previously announced, including Dallas, Atlanta, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, Denver and San Francisco, with the addition of Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Venues have not yet been nailed down, but confirmed dates and cities are listed below.
Weiland is gearing up to support his sophomore solo album, "Happy in Galoshes," which was originally due Oct. 18 and is now expected to hit stores Nov. 25. The record, produced by the singer and Doug Grean (Velvet Revolver, Sheryl Crow), features guest performers including No Doubt members Adrian Young, Tony Kanal and Tom Dumont. A teaser track, "Paralysis," is streaming at Weiland's MySpace page.
His forthcoming effort follows the rocker's 1998 solo debut, "12 Bar Blues," which rose to No. 42 on The Billboard 200 and spawned Top 40 modern-rock singles "Barbarella" and "Lady, Your Roof Brings Me Down."
Weiland has been on the road with Stone Temple Pilots since May and will finish off the band's mammoth comeback tour at the end of October. He endured a bitter split with supergroup Velvet Revolver last spring before reuniting with STP following a six-year hiatus.
STP formed in 1992 and went on to record five studio albums and sell more than 35 million copies worldwide, according to a press release. The Grammy-winning grunge-rockers parted ways after completing a tour behind 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da," which is their most recent studio album.
STP guitarist Dean DeLeo recently told the Associated Press that the band is also planning a new studio album.
