Alt-rockers 3 Doors Down [ tickets ] are returning to the road to make up summer dates that were postponed because of singer/songwriter Brad Arnold's bout with laryngitis.

The band will travel around Europe from Oct. 15 to Nov. 8, and then kick off US shows Dec. 4 in Orange Beach, AL. So far, nine gigs have been rescheduled in the eastern US and more will be added in early 2009, according to a blog entry at 3 Doors Down's MySpace page. In the posting, the group's agent explains details about ticket exchanges and refunds for fans holding passes to postponed concerts.

3 Doors Down's updated US itinerary is included below, and the band's European gigs are listed at its website. Stateside dates will include support from Switchfoot and American Bang.

"We are excited to get back on the road," Arnold said in a statement. "It's where we belong, and where we feel the closest to all our fans, who have been so supportive and loyal to us throughout the years."

3 Doors Down was prompted to bow out of 16 shows on its Wrigley's Extra Fruit Sensation Summer Tour when doctors advised Arnold to rest his voice. The arena outing was in support of 3DD's self-titled May release, which shot to the top spot on The Billboard 200 and has scored mainstream- and modern-rock hits with "It's Not My Time" and "Train." The group's new single, "Let Me Be Myself," was recently crowned as the most-added new track at Hot AC radio, according to a press release.

After touring behind 2005's "Seventeen Days," 3DD took some long-overdue time off, and then spent nearly a year in the studio working on its new set.

"What it took, was for us to take some real time off, go home, and then gather again as the band we know how to be," Arnold explained in the band's bio. "It was so appropriate to self-title the album, because after taking what amounted to almost a year-long break, we were hungry for each other's company."

The Mississippi/Nashville-based quintet, which originally formed in 1995, had been playing more than 200 shows a year, stopping only to record albums. Three Doors Down has sold more than 15 million records in its career, landing two No. 1s, three multi-platinum sellers and six chart-topping hits, according to its bio.
