Ghostland Observatory books late-year shows

Indie electro-rockers Ghostland Observatory have mapped a late-year headlining run behind their latest studio release, this spring's "Robotique Majestique."

The Texas duo--vocalist/guitarist Aaron Behrens and producer/drummer/keyboardist Thomas Turner--will mount up for the trek with back-to-back shows, Oct. 10-11, in Dallas. The 14-city run extends through mid-December, and the pair has also slated a New Year's Eve appearance in Seattle. Dates are included below.

"Robotique Majestique," the band's third full-length studio album, hit stores in March. Released on the group's own label, the record continues the duo's mission of making music that's "sweaty, raw-boned and direct from the future, committed to electronics, stuck on big beats, yet unmistakably powered by rock and roll," as laid out in a press release.

The set follows 2006's "Paparazzi Lightning" and 2005's "delete.delete.i.eat.meat," also released on the band's own Trashy Moped Recordings.

"We listened to what some major labels offered us in the spring, and there wasn't much of a difference between what they could offer and what we can offer ourselves," Turner recently told The Dallas Morning News. "11- to 16-year-olds aren't asking their parents to take them to the record store at the mall anymore. They're going online to find whatever music that they want."

Cuts from the new album can be heard streaming at Ghostland Observatory's MySpace page.
