Broken Social Scene maps November shows
Indie-rock collective Broken Social Scene has grafted another batch of new dates onto its ongoing tour in support of co-founder Brendan Canning's debut solo album.
The Canadian group, which extensively canvassed the outdoor festival circuit over the summer months, adds a new stretch of Southern US dates, as well as a tour-closing Nov. 27 show in Toronto, home to most of the band's members. Dates for the trek, which continues Wednesday (10/8) in Grand Rapids, MI, are included below.
The group's ever-changing touring lineup currently consists of Canning, Kevin Drew, Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Sam Goldberg, Leon Kingstone and Elizabeth Powell, as well as Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of fellow Canadian indie-rockers Stars.
Canning's new set, "Something for All of Us ...," is the second release in the "Broken Social Scene Presents" series on the band's own Arts & Crafts label. As expected, fellow BSS bandmates accompany Canning on the album, as well as contributors including Lisa Lobsinger, Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies, Lou Reed), Powell (Land Of Talk) and Liam O'Neil (The Stills).
"This record, for me, is not a huge departure from what we do as BSS," Canning explained in a statement. "It's a natural progression really, and these songs will certainly be a part of the live performances to come, as Broken Social Scene."
The album, which dropped in July, follows last year's "Broken Social Scene Presents" offering, "Spirit If ...," helmed by Kevin Drew.
