Kaiser Chiefs cross the pond to showcase new album
British pop-rockers Kaiser Chiefs will make a short trip to North America in November to support their forthcoming album, "Off With Their Heads."
The bandmates are scheduled to hit four major markets--Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Toronto--during the second week of November. They'll warm up next month with intimate gigs around the UK and a brief tour of South America. North American dates are listed below and international shows can be found at Kaiser Chiefs' website.
"Off With Their Heads," produced by Grammy winner Mark Ronson, is scheduled to drop Oct. 28 in the US. In a blog on their MySpace page, Kaiser Chiefs said they originally went into the studio just to record three new songs.
"Those initial two weeks in February were so productive and enjoyable that we quickly had more songs and carried on, breaking off to write and rehearse back in Leeds and to see the world playing festivals," the musicians wrote. "We never intended to make an album at first; in fact, we were going to have a year off."
The album's lead single, "Never Miss a Beat," features background vocals by Lilly Allen and members of New Young Pony Club. The track and its companion video are streaming at Kaiser Chiefs' MySpace page.
The band was thrust into the spotlight with its 2005 debut, "Employment," and the hit single "I Predict a Riot." The attention scored Kaiser Chiefs slots on several major festivals and they went on to win three Brit Awards.
The group's sophomore set, "Yours Truly, Angry Mob," was released last year and peaked at No. 45 on The Billboard 200. The record, which spawned the modern rock hit "Ruby," was the best-selling UK rock album of 2007, according to a press release.
