John Doe, Kathleen Edwards map co-headlining plans
Singer/songwriters Kathleen Edwards and John Doe will join forces for a co-headlining tour this fall, while Edwards will also play several support shows for Indigo Girls.
Doe--co-founder of L.A. punk veterans X--and Canadian alt-country singer Edwards will kick off their 11-date tour Nov. 5 in Richmond, VA. The two-week trek will include shows in New York, Dallas and Los Angeles, and will close with a run of Pacific Coast shows. Details are below.
Edwards' dates with Indigo Girls continue Sept. 24, running through an Oct. 4 show in Kalamazoo, MI. Her complete schedule can also be found at the end of this article.
Both performers are touring in support of recent studio albums. Doe's seventh solo set, "A Year in the Wilderness"--which features a duet with Edwards on "The Golden State"--hit stores last summer, while Edwards' third and most recent full-length effort, "Asking for Flowers," saw the light of day earlier this spring.
Edwards is currently a short-listed nominee for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize, awarded annually to the best full-length Canadian album. The award was given last year to indie-rock band Patrick Watson's "Close to Paradise."
When he's not engaged in solo tours or recording, Doe continues to tour occasionally with his longtime bandmates in X.
"It changes all the time. It's not something you can really put a finger on," he told LiveDaily earlier this year regarding the key to the band's longevity. "Musically, the chemistry is always constant, it's usually something you can rely on. The personality stuff is just things you deal with, and you get through it. We haven't gone to therapy like ... whatever that band is called that made the movie about going to therapy."
