The Faint plots new fall headline dates
Indie rockers The Faint will follow-up their recently completed--and largely sold-out--summer tour with a newly scheduled run of late fall headlining dates.
Originally hailing from Nebraska, the five-member group (which, in an early incarnation, briefly counted a young Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes among its members) will kick off the run Oct. 19 in Columbia, MO. The 23-date trek splits most of its duration between the West Coast and the Southern US, and runs through mid-November. Dates are below.
The band continues to support its sixth and most recent studio album, "Fasciinatiion." The set, which hit stores last month, follows 2004's "West From Birth," which has sold 117,000 copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"It's pretty much been the founding policy of the band that we keep working on stuff 'til we're all happy," bassist Joel Petersen told Pitchfork.com last year. "And sometimes to make five people happy, you have to try five different ideas on every little thing--it just kind of takes a long time."
Originally known as Norman Bailer, The Faint was formed in 1994 and has undergone a large number of personnel and stylistic changes over the years. In recent years, the band's members have worked increasingly with various DJs on electronic remix projects. The group's most recent album, "Wet From Birth," surfaced in September of 2004.
Streaming audio of "The Geeks Were Right," the first single from "Fasciinatiion," can currently be heard on the band's official website.
