Tony Bennett swings into fall/winter
Tony Bennett is staying busy with a new holiday album and North American tour dates through December.
Next on the legendary crooner's itinerary is a Sept. 12 performance in Los Angeles, which he'll follow with a steady string of shows throughout the US and Canada. Multiple dates are booked in Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlantic City and Niagara Falls, Ontario. Details are included below.
Bennett, who celebrated his 82nd birthday last month, continues to back his latest album, "Tony Bennett Sings the Ultimate American Songbook, Vol. 1," which surfaced a year ago and remains in the Top 10 on Billboard's jazz albums chart. The set has the singer putting his characteristic touch on 20th Century American classics that he recorded from the '50s through the '90s.
The record follows 2006's Grammy-winning "Tony Bennett: Duets/An American Classic," for which the singer paired up with superstars including Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Bono and Billy Joel, to name a few.
Bennett's next offering, "A Swingin' Christmas" featuring the Count Basie Big Band, is due Oct. 14.
Bennett has sold more than 50 million albums and earned 15 Grammys over six decades, according to a press release. He and his wife, Susan, are also busy raising money for their Exploring the Arts organization, which supports arts education in public schools.
