Trey Anastasio hits Northeast with Classic TAB

Singer/guitarist Trey Anastasio , who recently reunited with Phish for a wedding performance, will hit the road next month with his Classic TAB band.

The eight-show outing is set to kick off Oct. 16 in Port Chester, NY, and hang around the Northeast through the Oct. 25 finale in Richmond, VA. A gig at Higher Ground in South Burlington, VT, will benefit the Seven Below Arts Initiative, which Anastasio formed to help foster artistic development in his native Vermont. The itinerary is listed below.

Presale tickets will be available through Thursday (9/11) and the public onsale begins Friday (9/12).

In June, Anastasio returned to the stage for the first time in 18 months. His ever-morphing solo projects are currently focused on the Classic TAB band, which features drummer Russ Lawton, bassist Tony Markellis and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski.

Anastasio is also getting ready for the Sept. 27 debut of "Time Turns Elastic," an orchestral piece he co-wrote with long-time collaborator Don Hart and will perform with the Orchestra Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. The long, orchestral passages are intertwined with epic guitar lines and vocals, according to a press release.

"Most of the time when people use an electric instrument with an orchestra, they destroy the capability to blend," Anastasio said in a statement. "Our approach is to handle it as any other solo orchestral instrument. I play at the volume of say, an oboe, so Don can orchestrate around the guitar."

Earlier this summer, Trey Anastasio and the Undectet released "Original Boardwalk Style," a live album recorded at Atlantic City's House of Blues at the end of 2006. The two-night gig marked the culmination of a year of touring and growth, as what started out as a sextet progressed into an 11-piece outfit. Proceeds from the album will benefit the Seven Below Arts Initiative.

Anastasio, who fronted jam band Phish for more than two decades, reunited with his old bandmates last weekend for their first gig in four years. The group played three songs at the wedding of longtime road manager Brad Sands, according to Relix.com. The members also appeared together in May when they accepted a lifetime achievement honor during the Jammy Awards ceremony at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
