Filter fuels up for fall shows

Filter frontman Richard Patrick will lead his reconstituted band on a fall tour as he continues to support the group's comeback album, "Anthems for the Damned," and primes the pump for some upcoming digital releases.

Patrick and company, who've been on the road since the spring, will tackle their next round of North American shows in mid-September, and have so far scheduled seven dates in the West through the end of that month. Details are included below.

Released in May, "Anthems for the Damned" marks Filter's first album since 2002's "The Amalgamut," a tour in support of which was scrapped so that Patrick could enter rehab for substance-abuse treatment. He subsequently shelved Filter, and, in 2006, returned to the scene at the helm of supergroup Army of Anyone.

AOA--which also featured brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots, and David Lee Roth Band drummer Ray Luzier--released one self-titled album. It was while touring behind that set that Patrick realized it might be time to resurrect Filter.

"I went out on the road with Army of Anyone and we were playing Filter's 'Hey Man Nice Shot' and 'Welcome to the Fold' live," Patrick said during a recent interview with LiveDaily. "I just thought to myself, 'I really miss Filter.' The crowd really dug it and I enjoyed singing it. It just felt like home. It felt like the right thing for me. I just went for it."

Produced by Josh Abraham (Velvet Revolver, Staind), the politically tinged "Anthems" features guest contributions from Rob Zombie guitarist/songwriter John 5, Black Light Burns/ex-Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland, and Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese.

Later this year, Patrick plans to release a live album dubbed "The Pulse Sessions," according to a press release. Two cuts that will appear on the set--"Hey Man, Nice Shot" and "Take a Picture"--are currently on sale exclusively through Apple's iTunes Music Store.

Also in the works is "Remixes for the Damned," a digital-only set due out before the end of the year that will feature retooled versions "Anthems" songs created by Patrick, Ben Wise, Timmy the Terror (IMA Robot) and new Filter guitarist Mitch Marlow, among others.
