Robin Williams [ tickets ] is preparing the antics for his first stand-up comedy tour in six years.

The award-winning actor/comedian is set to roll out his "Weapons of Self-Destruction" show Sept. 25 in Minneapolis and trek through the US and Canada through the end of the year. The first round of confirmed dates includes multiple nights in Chicago, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Toronto and Boston. The itinerary is listed below.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (8/8) and meet-and-greet and premium packages are available. Details can be found at Williams' website.

"It's an election year, which is basically Christmas for stand-up comics," Williams said in a statement. "And I figured I should get my ass on the road while the Shrub is still in office. A lot has happened in the world and in my life since I last did this six years ago and there's no better thrill and no better therapy than getting on that high-wire in front of a live audience."

Some of the comedy will reflect Williams' tough times over the last few years, in which he spent time in rehab and split from his wife of 19 years, according to USA Today.

"Between the politics and things that have happened to me personally, it's free range," he told the paper. "I'll open up about that, yeah, as much as I can."

Williams last toured in 2002 when he returned to the stand-up scene after a 16-year hiatus. That sold-out trek became one of the highest-grossing comedy tours in history, according to a press release. The final performance in New York City was filmed by HBO for the special "Robin Williams: Live on Broadway," which was nominated for five Emmy awards.

The funnyman--who has four Golden Globes, four Grammys and an Oscar on his mantle--is also staying busy with his big-screen career. He is currently filming the Bobcat Goldthwait comedy "World's Greatest Dad" and will star opposite John Travolta in the Disney flick "Old Dogs." Williams will also reprise his role as Teddy Roosevelt in the sequel "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," according to a press release.
