Joan As Police Woman aims to 'Survive' fall concert run
Singer/songwriter Joan Wasser--who performs and records under the name Joan As Police Woman --will return from her European summer tour for a US slate this fall.
The singer, who also counts violin, piano and guitar among her musical talents, will launch the trek Sept. 5 in Philadelphia, with 11 shows in all lined up during the month, including dates in Chicago (9/12), San Francisco (8/17) and New York City (9/25). The full schedule is below.
Before hitting the road for the US outing, Wasser and her touring band--which also includes bassist Rainy Orteca and drummer Parker Kindred--will complete a late summer European run of mostly festival appearances. Those dates can be found on her website.
Wasser is touring behind her second studio album, "To Survive," which hit stores last month. The performer co-produced the album, which follows her 2006 debut, "Real Life," with Bryce Goggin (Phish, The Apples in Stereo).
"I am always trying to dig deeper into the emotional experience," Wasser said of the new set in her online bio. "I want to access the most honest place I can, distill it and present it in a way that makes sense musically."
Before launching her solo career, Wasser, a Connecticut native, played in several bands, including The Dambuilders and Antony and the Johnsons, as well as singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright's touring group.
