Less Than Jake locks in dates with Rancid, Reel Big Fish

Ska-rockers Less Than Jake will add co-headlining stints with Rancid and Reel Big Fish to their resume when the group resumes a steady stream of roadwork this fall.

The Florida-based band, which is currently finishing up a run with Goldfinger, Big D, Suburban Legends and other acts, will share the bill with punk-pop outfit Rancid for three September shows, kicking off Sept. 12 in Seattle, before heading north for a Canadian run with Reel Big Fish, Flatliners and the Real Deal, a nine-city trek that kicks off Sept. 18 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Before those outings get underway, the band will polish off the rest of its current schedule beginning tonight (7/23) in Tempe, AZ. Details are below.

Twelve years after the band's major label debut, 1996's "Pezcore," the members of Less Than Jake managed to extricate themselves from their record contract to release last month's "GNV FLA" on their own Sleep It Off Records imprint.

The set, which pays homage to Less Than Jake's hometown of Gainesville, FL, through its license plate-style title, features the lead single "Does The Lion City Still Roar?," which is currently streaming at the quintet's website.

"After a decade and a half of being in the band, we are now our own bosses for real and the excitement of that can peel paint off the walls," drummer Vinnie Fiorello said of the band's newfound independence in a press release.

In addition to the new material, Less Than Jake has also been re-releasing albums from its catalog, including "Pezcore," "Losers, Kings and Things We Don't Understand" and "Goodbye Blue and White," as well as "The People's History of Less Than Jake" DVD. All of the re-releases come with new artwork and bonus DVDs of previously unreleased material.
