Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry map co-headlining tour
Hard rockers Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry will launch a co-headlining tour this fall after both outfits polish off their respective current road slates.
Avenged--currently rampaging through Europe--has a few North American headlining shows lined up before hooking up with Buckcherry for the shared tour, which kicks off Sept. 16 in Moline, IL. Buckcherry will be busy the rest of the summer as part of the Motley Crue -led Crue Fest tour, which continues tonight (7/22) in Houston.
The Avenged Sevenfold/Buckcherry co-headlining run currently shows nine dates in late September and early October, with more to come, according to the tour's promoters. The up-to-date schedule for both bands is included below; Avenged Sevenfold's European plans can be viewed at the band's website.
Avenged Sevenfold continues to support its self-titled set from last fall, the band's fourth studio album and sophomore major label effort. Released in October, the disc--which debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, raking in sales of more than 90,000 copies its first week in stores--represents a more experimental side of the band, which worked with a variety of guest artists on the record, including Nashville's Muzik Mafia conglomerate. But fans shouldn't be alarmed at the shift in musical direction.
"We still have a ton of killer solos in there. We still have drums going 120 beats per minute," bassist Johnny Christ told LiveDaily last fall. "We're still doing some nutty stuff. But we're experimenting with groove-oriented things, some slower beats. ... I think people can look back on this one and say, 'I see the early influences.'"
Buckcherry, which has spent the last two years touring heavily behind 2006's "15," is set to release its fourth studio album, "Black Butterfly," in September. A track from the new set, "Too Drunk...," leaked onto the Internet recently, prompting the band to cut a quickie video for the song, which can be viewed at the group's website.
"15" spent 98 weeks on The Billboard 200, peaking at No. 39 earlier this year and becoming Buckcherry's first album to reach the Top 40. The album recently was certified platinum by the RIAA, with sales breaking 1 million copies.
