Kid Rock expands tour plans and homecoming stand

Summertime is getting hotter for Kid Rock , who's added another run of West Coast dates and a fourth Detroit-area show to his tour as his latest album, "Rock N Roll Jesus," shoots back into the Top 5.

The rap-rocker, who recently finished tours of Europe and Canada, will launch into his four-show homecoming this weekend at Clarkston, MI's DTE Energy Music Theatre. Next month, he'll stick primarily to the eastern half of the US, mixing his own "Rock and Roll Revival" shows with dates on the "Rock and Rebels Tour" with Lynryd Skynyrd. Since last check, Rock has added 10 new West Coast gigs that stretch through late September. An updated itinerary is listed below.

After debuting at the top of The Billboard 200 chart last October, "Rock N Roll Jesus" has climbed back to the No. 5 position thanks to Rock's latest hit single, "All Summer Long," which is a mash-up of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" and Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama." The tune has made an impression across a variety of radio formats, including adult contemporary, pop, rock and country. The video for the song is streaming at Rock's MySpace page.

"Rock N Roll Jesus" is the performer's fifth consecutive platinum-certified studio album. The recent sales jump has likely been bolstered by Rock's boycott of the digital marketplace, where fans usually go to buy singles. Instead, if they want the single, they have to buy the whole album at a brick-and-mortar store.

Rock has been on the road since January with his "Rock and Roll Revival Tour," a revue-style outing that has featured the bad-boy rocker and his Twisted Brown Trucker Band playing a medley of hits with a host of special guests.

Fans can also catch Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd performing on the Aug. 22 episode of ABC-TV's "Good Morning America."
