Chris Isaak dives into summer

Chris Isaak is getting ready roll out his North American summer tour, and he's doubled the number of stops since last check.

The outing, set to launch July 8 in Livermore, CA, will cover US cities from coast to coast and a couple of Canadian provinces into September. Multiple nights are booked in Hollywood, CA (with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra); Saratoga, CA; Peachtree, GA; and Richmond, British Columbia. Details are listed below.

British soul man James Hunter , who released his new album, "The Hard Way," in the US last month, was handpicked by Isaak to open most of the August shows, according to a press release. Along the way, Isaak will also perform one-off dates with Vanessa Carlton, Boz Scaggs and Lisa Loeb.

The retro-rocker's latest album is 2006's "Best of Chris Isaak," which includes an audio CD with 14 remastered hits, three new songs, two covers and an acoustic rendition of "Forever Blue." The set also comes with a DVD featuring 18 music videos and a commentary from Isaak himself. Several songs from the collection are streaming at the performer's website.

The best-of set follows 2004's "Chris Isaak Christmas," and the singer/songwriter's latest, non-seasonal studio album, 2002's "Always Got Tonight."

During his more than two-decade career, Isaak has released nine albums, scored two Grammy nominations, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own TV series on Showtime.
