New Found Glory tours with its alter-ego

Pop-punk outfit New Found Glory is heading out on a summer/fall world tour and will take its hardcore alter-ego, International Superheroes of Hardcore, along on the North American leg.

The Florida-based group is set to kick things off July 31 with a run through several Asian countries, and then launch a month-long, coast-to-coast US tour Sept. 11 in Bakersfield, CA. Four Year Strong, A Day to Remember, and Crime in Stereo will come along for the stateside ride. New Found Glory will then cross the Pond for more than a week's worth of UK shows in November. The band's North American itinerary is included below and overseas concerts are listed at its MySpace page.

Currently in between recording contracts, New Found Glory recently hooked up with Boston hardcore punk label Bridge Nine Records to release a set that includes two discs: NFG's "Tip of the Iceberg" EP, which features three originals and three cover tunes, and the debut full-length album from International Superheroes of Hardcore, titled "Takin' It Ova!"

The hardcore band features all the members the NFG with Jordan Pudnik and Chad Gilbert swapping vocal and guitar duties.

"When we began New Found Glory, we were just a couple of kids from the hardcore scene playing in a punk band," Gilbert explained in a statement. "Even today, there are still hardcore kids that support NFG so it's awesome to put something out for them and it's also a chance for us to show recent NFG fans the scene where the band started."

Gilbert added that while the group is in between contracts, "It's nice to take some time and do whatever we want and write and record music with no pressure."

New Found Glory parted ways with the Universal Records family in the spring of 2007 after seven years and five full-length albums, including the gold-selling efforts "New Found Glory" (2000), "Sticks and Stones" (2002) and "Catalyst" (2004).

The band returned to Drive-Thru Records for last year's "From the Screen to Your Stereo Part 2," which comprises cover versions of songs originally featured on movie soundtracks.
