Squeeze fits in more American dates

Reunited British pop-rockers Squeeze have added another half dozen shows to their late-summer North American tour.

The group will finish its current UK jaunt in mid-August and then jet to the states in time for an Aug. 21 kickoff in Washington, DC. Nearly 20 dates are lined up through mid-September, including newly added stops in Farmingdale, NY; St. Louis, MO; Cleveland; Dallas; San Francisco; and Toronto. The full North American schedule is included below and European dates can be found at the band's website.

The current version of Squeeze features founding members Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, along with longtime bassist John Bentley and two members of Tilbrook's touring band, The Fluffers: Stephen Large (keyboards) and Simon Hanson (drums).

Former members Jools Holland and Gilson Lavis, who continue to tour as part of Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, have once again decided to pass on participating in the reunited Squeeze.

Last summer's reunion tour of the US and UK marked Squeeze's first live appearances in more than eight years and resulted in November's "5 Live" album. Before hitting the road last year, the band offered up the hits collection "Essential Squeeze," which also includes two previously unreleased songs. A DVD version of that set features music videos spanning the group's career.

Earlier this year, Squeeze also reissued four of its classic studio albums: 1980's "Argybargy," 1982's "Sweets From a Stranger," 1989's "Frank" and 1995's "Ridiculous."

The group, which released its eponymous debut 30 years ago, found its greatest success in the '80s. Squeeze eventually disbanded in the late '90s, and Difford and Tilbrook embarked on separate solo careers.
