Missy Higgins continues to roll behind 'Clear Night'
Singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will roll out her bio-diesel tour bus again this summer for another round of North American headlining dates.
The environmentally conscious Australian native, who recently completed a co-headlining outing concentrating on Southern US and West Coast venues with Mason Jennings and Brett Dennen, kicks off another trek July 10 in Madison, WI.
Folk-rocker Eric Hutchinson will provide opening support for the bulk of the 20-date tour, which carries over into the first week of August.
Higgins, who relocated temporarily to Los Angeles last year, continues to tour behind her sophomore studio effort, "On a Clear Night," which was released early last year in her native Australia, but didn't arrive in the US until a few months ago.
The album, featuring the single "Steer," which earned the artist her second No. 1 record honor in Australia, was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by studio ace Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Pearl Jam).
"I think he's really great at simplifying songs that are too complicated and intricate for the sake of being intricate rather than being artistically better," Higgins said of the veteran producer in a recent talk with LiveDaily. "He and his engineer, David Boucher, they can make an instrument sound so beautiful and so real and so present in the room with you when you listen to their albums. They're just really great at what they do. I think Mitchell brought a real classic sound to the album."
Higgins' new "Steer EP," currently available exclusively through Apple's iTunes Music Store, includes the title track and another song from the album, "100 Round the Bends," plus a pair of live cuts.
The singer made her recording debut with 2004's "The Sound of White," a massively popular album in Australia, where it sold more than a half million copies and remained on the country's Top 100 chart for more than two years.
