Indigo Girls line up fall tour plans
Indigo Girls --currently rolling through the Western US as part of their latest tour--have added another run of shows to their calendar for the fall months.
The duo of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers will concentrate on places east of the Mississippi River for the forthcoming outing, which kicks off Sept. 11 in Spartanburg, SC. The 17-city tour leg runs through early October.
The Girls are currently gearing up for an appearance tomorrow night (6/18) in Tucson, AZ. The pair has 17 dates remaining on its current stretch, including a mid-June romp through the New England states; details are included below.
Indigo Girls continue to support their 10th studio album, "Despite Our Differences," which surfaced in 2006 and peaked at No. 44 on The Billboard 200. The set--produced by Mitchell Froom (Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow)--is the Indigo Girls' first album for Hollywood Records and features guest artists including Brandi Carlile and Pink. A couple of songs from the set are streaming at the performers' MySpace page. The Girls also have their own YouTube channel, where fans can check out all their latest videos.
The Indigo Girls' next release will come in the form of a DVD--"Live at the Roxy"--which premiered in February on high-definition television channel HDNet and is scheduled to hit stores later this year.
Ray's fourth solo album, "Didn't It Feel Kinder," drops July 22 with producer Greg Griffith (The Butchies, Le Tigre) behind the soundboard. "What ties the record together for me is this human yearning to be understood and the yearning to become empathetic with other people--how to love each other and be kind even when we're brutally angry," Ray said in a press release.
