KISS rocks its way back to the US
Following its massive 35th anniversary European tour, KISS will head home for a handful of US performances.
The venerable rockers--who previously announced August dates in Sturgis, SD; and Kelseyville, CA--have since tacked on shows in Las Vegas and Stateline, NV. They launched their world tour in March with gigs in Australia and New Zealand, and segued into their first European trek in nearly 10 years. The full Alive/35 Tour schedule is posted at the band's website, with US dates listed below.
The current KISS lineup consists of mainstays Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, along with guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, who replace original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, respectively.
In honor of their 35th anniversary, the masked quartet plans to perform the "KISS Alive" album in its entirety, as well as some rarely played classics, according to a press release.
The group's most recent full-length album of new material remains 1999's "Psycho Circus," which was touted as KISS' first set recorded with all four original members since 1979's "Dynasty."
During its long career, KISS has recorded 36 albums and sold 85 million records worldwide, according to the band's bio.
KISS bassist Gene Simmons reportedly has told a reporter in Norway that he and fellow KISS co-founder Paul Stanley--who continue to tour with hired hands clad in the makeup and costumes made famous by original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss--are considering starring in a reality show during which the pair will hire their own replacements so that the group can continue on after they retire.
