Carrie Underwood keeps 'Carnival Ride' spinning
"American Idol" 2005 winner Carrie Underwood is taking fans on a ride through this fall, cruising through more than 50 cities in the US and Canada on her continuing "Carnival Ride Tour."
The fall outing--which launches in late September and will feature special guest Little Big Town--will follow Underwood's in-progress spring run, and her plans also include appearances at a handful of summer festivals and fairs. Details are included below.
By the time Underwood's spring tour wraps up June 24 in New Orleans, it will have drawn nearly 600,000 fans, according to a press release.
Underwood was recently inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and named Top Female Vocalist at the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards for the second consecutive year. Her current album, "Carnival Ride," featuring the No. 1 hits "So Small," "All-American Girl" and "Last Name"--all of which Underwood co-wrote--was certified double-platinum within two months of its release.
Her debut album, "Some Hearts," was certified seven-times platinum, becoming the best-selling solo female country debut in RIAA history, and surpasses all other releases as the all-time US top-selling album by any "American Idol" contestant, the press release states.
Little Big Town was crowned the Academy of Country Music's Top New Vocal Group in 2007. The band's sophomore CD, the critically acclaimed "A Place to Land," will be re-released on Capitol Nashville Oct. 14.
