Butch Walker backs new releases on solo trek
After a rough 2007, singer/songwriter/producer Butch Walker is back in action with a solo outing and several new recordings.
The performer will take over vocals, guitar, bass, piano and drums on his One Man Bad Tour, which rolls out early next month.
"It should be interesting (or a train wreck), but either way, why wouldn't you wanna see that?," Walker said in a blog posting at his MySpace page.
The trek, which will also feature special guest Jesse Malin , is set to launch July 6 in Vancouver and hit US cities from coast to coast into early August, when Walker will perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Confirmed shows are listed below.
Walker was forced to regroup after Southern California wildfires claimed his Malibu home last November.
"I lost everything I've ever owned," Walker told Harp magazine. "Every master of every song I've ever recorded, every piece of recording equipment, guitars, drums and things I've collected over the years, cars, motorcycles, every family memorial, heirloom, picture, and document we ever had ... gone."
Despite the devastation, the musician got back to work, planning his latest release, "Leavin' the Game on Lucky Street," a live album/download and DVD recorded during a hometown show in Atlanta last year. His side project with Michael Guy Cheslett and Darren Dodd, dubbed 1969, also released a new album titled "Maya" in April.
Walker is currently working on his next studio album, "Sycamore Meadows," which is due this summer, according to his MySpace page.
His latest studio set, 2006's "The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonites," marked Walker's third solo record since leaving his old band, Marvelous 3, in the late '90s.
