KISS to take a break from world tour to rock Sturgis rally
Currently rocking Europe on its massive 35th anniversary tour, KISS will make a detour in August for a pair of US shows before carving out a second leg of dates back home.
The iconic masked quartet will make an Aug. 4 appearance at Sturgis, SD's Rock'n the Rally, a three-day outdoor event scheduled as part of the town's annual motorcycle rally. More information on the event can be found at its website.
KISS also shows an Aug. 31 date in Kelseyville, CA, on its schedule, which looks to get fleshed out over the coming months with a full allotment of North American dates. "Until we sort out the next leg, we don't want to stop, so we're doing a few US shows for our enjoyment, as much as the fans," the band recently posted on its website.
The venerable rockers set out on the Alive/35 tour in March to celebrate their 35th anniversary as a band, hitting New Zealand and Australia for the first time since 1997. The group is currently playing its first European dates since the 1998-99 Psycho Circus Tour. The current world tour itinerary can be found at the group's website.
The group's most recent full-length album of new material remains 1999's "Psycho Circus," which was touted at the time as the band's first album recorded with all four original members since 1979's "Dynasty."
The current KISS lineup consists of mainstays Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, along with guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, replacing departed originals Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, respectively.
Stanley was forced to skip a scheduled concert last year due to what was described at the time as a "cardiac event." The singer was later diagnosed as having suffered from severe dehydration, according to various news reports.
