'Weird Al' Yankovic expands 'Lynwood' trek
"Weird Al" Yankovic has added nearly 20 more shows to his North American summer tour ahead of next month's launch.
The outing, which now spans 45 dates across the US and Canada, is scheduled to kick off June 27 in Henderson, NV, and make its way from the West Coast to the East Coast and back through late August. Two-night stands are booked in Rama, Ontario; and Coquitlam, British Columbia. An updated tour itinerary is listed below.
The trek marks the final leg of the "Straight Outta Lynwood Tour," which supports Yankovic's 2006 album of the same name. The funnyman's 2007 outing spanned 119 shows across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, according to a blog entry at his MySpace page.
"Straight Outta Lynwood" debuted at No. 10 on The Billboard 200, making it Yankovic's first Top 10 album in his nearly three-decade career. The set's lead single, "White & Nerdy" (a parody of Chamillionaire's hit "Ridin"), is also the performer's first Top 10 song. That tune and a couple of others from the album are streaming at Yankovic's MySpace page.
The parody king, who started his career by sending homemade tapes to nationally syndicated radio jockey Dr. Demento, has become the best-selling novelty-song producer of all time, according to a press release. He has sold more than 12 million albums and won three Grammys.
