D'Angelo and Lucy Pearl will donate a portion of the proceeds from their August 4 show at the Greek Theatre to the Magic Johnson Foundation's "A Midsummer Night's Magic," a series of Los Angeles events to benefit Johnson's scholarship fund.
Columbia Records is re-releasing 1969's "Johnny Cash at San Quentin." Unlike the original, this release will contain the entire live concert.
Eminem waived a preliminary hearing on charges stemming from an altercation with an employee of Insane Clown Posse. The hearing was at 9 a.m. Fans began lining up outside the Michigan courthouse at 4 a.m.
Shaun Ryder of the Happy Mondays pulled an unloaded gun on a journalist during an interview, NME reported. The journalist worked for the Manchester Evening News and Ryder was reportedly unhappy with that paper's treatment of the band in the '90s. Ryder apparently hasn't been charged with a crime yet.
The Supersuckers have canceled their dates on the Vans Warped Tour "to get ready for the long trek ahead," a spokesperson for their label said. The group is scheduled to play at several European festivals in August.
House of Blues is holding a contest called Run of the House. The prizes seem to be all-access passes, but in order to get to the contest details on H.O.B's website, one has to click through a bunch of pages that tell a story-in-pictures or something. liveDaily Briefly clicked through five of the pages, didn't get to the actual contest details, then moved on to something else.
According to the U.K.'s the Journal, this happened: At an Elton John concert, a guy yelled out something "abusive" towards John. A woman berated the guy for his abusiveness. The guy grabbed the woman's arm and "swung her around." The woman sued, saying the resultant shoulder injury prevented her from working. The guy said he swung at her because he thought she was going to burn him with a cigarette. The judge awarded her £225,000.
