Outside Lands fest firms up schedule
The three-day event, which is set for Aug. 22-24 in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, will also feature Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals topping the bill for Saturday, with Jack Johnson and Wilco bringing the festival to a close Sunday night.
Other names revealed by organizers include The Black Keys tour dates, tickets and news" style="color:#630000;">The Black Keys , Lupe Fiasco, Steve Winwood , Widespread Panic, Liars, Broken Social Scene and many others. A complete day-by-day schedule of performers is included below.
Single-day passes go on sale Thursday (5/1) at 10 a.m. PT at Ticketmaster and via the event's official website. Festival tickets good for all three days of the event are currently available.
Festival organizers are expecting more than 160,000 people to gather in the park over the weekend, according to the San Francisco Weekly. The concert will take place over five main performance stages, according to promoters, with acts representing a wide range of musical genres.
The "arts" portion of the event will feature the work of both traditional and new media artists, according to organizers, with a spotlight on local art. The local angle will carry over to the concessions area, with an emphasis on fare provided by local eateries.
Organizers are looking to bring a local touch to the music acts as well, bringing in several San Francisco-based artists to round out the schedule, including Primus, The Mother Hips, ALO, Two Gallants, The Coup, Goapele, Matt Nathanson and Sean Hayes.
Golden Gate Park has been the setting for many high-profiled concerts over the years, beginning in the late '60s, when the park was also used to hold giant peace demonstrations and sit-ins.
