R.E.M., NIN, STP top Voodoo Experience roster

April 28, 2008 02:04 PM
Rock heavyweights R.E.M. , Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots top the bill at this year's Voodoo Experience music festival in New Orleans.

Set for Oct. 24-26, the event will also feature New Orleans favorites The Neville Brothers, as well as local talent including The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Irving Mayfield's New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and The New Orleans Bingo Show, according to organizers.

Now entering its 10th year, the Voodoo Experience--which this year has been dubbed "The Tenth Ritual"--will take place in New Orleans' City Park "amidst lush lagoons, bayous and one of the largest collections of mature oak trees in the world--all in the shadow of the New Orleans Museum of Art and just minutes from the French Quarter and Central Business District," according to a press release.

A limited number of 3-day tickets will be available via a pre-sale set to commence Friday (5/2) via the event's website.

Nine Inch Nails are making a return appearance at the festival for the first time since performing at the scaled-down version of the annual event that took place in 2005, just two months after Hurricane Katrina devastated much of New Orleans.

Last year marked the first time that the festival was expanded to three days after traditionally being staged as a two-day event.
