The Dodos avoid extinction with new LP, headlining dates
The San Francisco musicians will launch a first wave of headlining shows June 19 in their hometown, with 13 additional shows following over the next month. The group, which has also lined up a few additional North American dates for the fall, will head over to Europe next month for a run of international shows.
All domestic dates are shown below; the duo's overseas schedule can be found at the band's official website.
"Visiter," the duo's second studio album, hit stores in March. The set was recorded at Portland, OR's Type Foundry Studio with producer/engineer John Askew at the helm, and follows the group's debut effort, 2006's "Beware of the Maniacs."
The band got its start in 2006 as singer/songwriter/guitarist Meric Long's one-man act Dodobird. Long was introduced to Santa Cruz resident Logan Kroeber, who had been experimenting with "progressive metal" drumming, according to the duo's MySpace site. The pair eventually changed the outfit's name to The Dodos, quit their day jobs and began touring and recording.
Long has also recorded a solo EP, 2006's "Dodo Bird."
