Jo Dee Messina's 'Unmistakable' enthusiasm

Country star Jo Dee Messina has scored nine No. 1 singles; been honored by The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and The Grammy Awards; and was the first female country artist to score three multiple-week No.1 songs from the same album. Despite all that, she's not resting on her laurels, and instead is looking ahead to her upcoming release "Unmistakable."

"This album is phenomenal," Messina told LiveDaily after returning from a vigorous run. "When I turned it in, Curb [Records] said it was the best album I ever turned in. I was like, 'Woo hoo!'"

The latest single from "Unmistakable," titled "I'm Done," debuted at No. 56 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart March 22. Messina, who co-wrote "I'm Done," explained that the release of "Unmistakable" is "truly dictated by the success of the single."

"When a single reaches a certain point on the charts, it's pretty much when they release the album," she said. "So I don't have an exact date, but I know it's coming out this summer."

Three production teams worked on the album with her: uber country producer Dann Huff and Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus, Jerry Flowers of Keith Urban's band and producer Chris Farren.

"My management, at the time, thought, 'Let's get these guys together and we'll get the best material out of all of them,'" explained Messina, known for her songs "Bye Bye," "I'm Alright" and "My Give a Damn's Busted."

Even though her album is set for a summer release, Messina is playing new material at her current live shows, which are listed below. The new songs aren't necessarily "new" to her; she wrapped up the album a year ago.

"We're doing 'I'm Done,' 'Unmistakable' and we'll throw in another couple songs here and there depending on the length of the show," she said. "The response has been awesome. This is why I'm so excited to get the record out there. I'm afraid to throw in too many [new] songs that people don't know. But when you do a song that people aren't familiar with and they respond with 'Whoo hoo' after the first chorus, it's pretty cool."
