Bob Dylan plots new shows in faraway places

Fresh off winning a Pulitzer Prize, Bob Dylan has lined up a brief North American outing next month before heading overseas for a longer summer run through Europe.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will concentrate primarily on Canadian cities during the run, which kicks off May 17 in Lewiston, ME. The weeklong trek features rare visits to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and, finally, Newfoundland, where Dylan has lined up back-to-back shows starting May 23. All dates are below.

Following the slate of Eastern Seaboard shows, Dylan will travel to Europe for around 30 concerts through mid-summer. The performer's full international schedule can be found at his website.

Dylan continues to support his recent career retrospective, "Dylan." Released last October on his longtime record label, Columbia, the collection is available in two versions: a three-disc, 51-track deluxe edition and the smaller 18-song, single-disc set.

The folk/rock legend's most recent studio release was 2006's "Modern Times," his first new album of original material since 2001's "Love and Theft." The album shot to No. 1 on The Billboard 200.

More recently, Dylan released a selection in the "Artist's Choice" series on Starbucks' music label. The 16-track CD, which hit retail outlets in February, features cuts from artists hand-picked by Dylan, including Billie Holiday, Stanley Brothers and Junior Wells. Dylan also wrote liner notes for the set explaining the historical context of each selection.

The legendary singer/songwriter was awarded an honorary Pulitzer Prize last week, with the awards' committee citing his "profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power."
