Goo Goo Dolls And Fastball Extend Tour, Add Sugar Ray For New Leg
The Goo Goo Dolls and Fastball have announced plans for a new leg of tour dates extending to September 1st. The new eight-week run, which adds Sugar Ray to the bill, will kick off July 16th. A month-long spring Goo Goo Dolls / Fastball outing is set to start May 5th, pending approval from doctors monitoring the throat condition of Goo Goo frontman Johnny Rzeznik.
The Goo Goo Dolls were forced to postpone four pre-Fastball dates last week when Rzeznik was diagnosed with a hematoma of the vocal cord, the result of a burst blood vessel. The band hopes to replay the affected shows in Atlanta, Orlando and two New York stops at the close of their May tour.
MTV reports that the bands involved are encouraging fans to bring canned or non-perishable goods to the shows, to be donated to the USA Harvest food bank organization. Over five tons of food have reportedly been collected to date.
The new leg of dates will follow a six-week break in June for the Goo Goo Dolls and Fastball, during which time Fastball will take on some independent dates. Sugar Ray is currently winding down an MTV-sponsored college tour with Orgy, after which they'll make brief visits to Europe and Japan before taking a few weeks off.
Sugar Ray currently holds the #4 slot on the Billboard singles chart with Every Morning, while the Goo Goo Dolls move up to the #8 position with Slide.
