Alternative Press Tour going strong
The Rockstar Energy Drink Alternative Press Tour got off to a roaring start last month with co-headliners The Rocket Summer and All Time Low selling out shows across the South and western US, and the bands will soldier on through early May.
The outing--which also features alt-rockers The Matches, electronic-rocker Sonny and pop-rockers Forever The Sickest Kids--continues tonight (4/4) in Detroit and will focus on the eastern half of the country from here on out. Several of the shows have sold out in advance, according to the tour's website. The remaining itinerary is listed below.
Dallas-based pop-rock outfit The Rocket Summer is supporting last summer's "Do You Feel," which reached No. 44 on The Billboard 200. The set is singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Bryce Avary's third full-length album and first major-label release on Island Records. He wrote and performed the entire album himself with a little help from producer Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jack's Mannequin).
Pop-punkers All Time Low are backing their fall release, "So Wrong, It's Right," which cracked The Billboard 200 at No. 62 and claimed the No. 6 spot on the magazine's Top Independent Albums chart. The set follows 2006's "Put Up or Shut Up" EP, All Time Low's debut on Hopeless Records. The Maryland-based group had already shared the stage with the likes of Motion City Soundtrack, the Early November and Plain White T's before joining the Hopeless label, which signed the musicians just before they graduated from high school.
The Alternative Press Tour, put on by the music mag of the same name, is in its second year. The inaugural edition featured Circa Survive, Cute is What We Aim For, As Tall As Lions and Envy on the Coast.
