Warren Haynes, Grace Potter to host Jammy Awards
Set to take place May 7 at New York City's WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden, the ceremony will yield winners in nine categories, all of which will be determined by votes cast at the official Jammys website.
"Like the scene that it celebrates, the Jammys is a true grassroots event," Jammy Awards co-founder, Dean Budnick--editor-in-chief of Jambands.com and senior editor of Relix--said in a prepared statement. "Ever since Year One, the awards have been voted upon by the discerning ears of the fans."
Nominees include: the Beastie Boys for Studio Album of the Year (for last year's "The Mix-Up," an instrumental set); Neil Young for Archival Album of the Year, and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings for Studio Album of the Year.
Show hosts Potter and Haynes are both up for awards as well, with Potter's song "Ah Mary" garnering a nod in the Song of the Year category, and Gov't Mule's set at last year's Bonnaroo festival scoring a place in the Live Performance of the Year category.
Jam-band staples Widespread Panic , moe., North Mississippi Allstars and The Allman Brothers Band all notched multiple nominations. The complete list of nominees is included below.
Iconic jam band Phish will be honored with a special Lifetime Achievement Award presentation, according to a press release.
The performer's for this year's event will be announced in the coming weeks, according to organizers.
