James McMurtry to mount headlining outing for 'Kids'
Texas-bred McMurtry will launch the outing with a run of dates in his home state, kicking off April 15 and 16 in Austin, TX, and the 26-city trek winds through April and May before coming to a close. Dates are below.
The performer's next studio release, "Just Us Kids," is his eighth full-length effort, and follows 2005's "Childish Things," which spent six weeks at No. 1 on trade publication Radio & Records' Americana chart. The album hits stores April 15.
McMurtry is currently alternating streaming versions of tracks from "Just Us Kids" on his MySpace page every Tuesday, along with a free download of the single "Cheney's Toy."
Along with the free download, McMurtry and his label are encouraging fans to create their own videos for the tune and post them online. The singer will choose his favorite from all the entries, with the video's creator winning an 8GB Apple iPod Nano. See McMurtry's website for more information.
