Kanye West expands 'Glow in the Dark' trek
The "Glow in the Dark Tour," which will also feature Rihanna , N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco , is set to kick off April 16 in Seattle and visit arenas and amphitheaters across the US and Canada through mid-June. Since last check, two more shows were added in Los Angeles, and dates were tacked on in Miami; Cincinnati; Winnipeg; Vancouver; Fargo, ND; Portland, OR; Reno, NV; San Jose, CA; Glendale, AZ; West Valley City, UT; and Moline, IL. A previously announced concert in Minneapolis and West's performance at Manchester, TN's Bonnaroo festival were moved to June 11 and June 14, respectively.
West is supporting his record-setting September release, "Graduation," which shot to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with first-week sales reaching nearly 957,000 units. The debut was the biggest of any album since West's 2005 sophomore set, "Late Registration," according to a press release.
The album also earned the hip-hop superstar another armful of Grammys at last month's ceremony. He walked away with Best Rap Album for "Graduation," Best Rap Solo Performance for "Stronger" and Best Rap Song for "Good Life," as well as Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his "Southside" collaboration with Common.
In addition to "Stronger" and "Good Life," the new record has spawned rap, R&B/hip-hop and pop hits including "Can't Tell Me Nothing" and "Flashing Lights." Song samples and videos are streaming at West's website.
The 10-time Grammy winner first made a name for himself behind the production board, working with artists including Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Ludacris and Alicia Keys. In 2004, he released his first solo album, "The College Dropout," which scored multi-platinum status and a whopping 10 Grammy nominations.
