Counting Crows team with Maroon 5 for summer outing
The trek, which is scheduled to kick off July 25 in Virginia Beach, VA, will feature emerging singer Sara Bareilles on the first half and rock band Augustana thereafter. The current itinerary has the performers crisscrossing the US, with a stop in Toronto, and ending up in Florida in early October. Details are listed below. Tickets go on sale beginning April 4.
The outing is a continuation of Maroon 5's long-term touring deal with promotions giant Live Nation. The band is supporting its sophomore set, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long," which bowed at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 last May and spawned the Grammy-winning lead single "Makes Me Wonder," as well as the pop/rock hit "Won't Go Home Without You." The record follows Maroon 5's hugely successful 2002 debut, "Songs About Jane," which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, according to a press release.
The group, which is currently touring in Singapore and Australia, will get some face time on television next month, performing on FOX's "Idol Gives Back" charity shows as well as Comedy Central's "Night of Too Many Stars," which benefit's autism charities.
Tomorrow (3/25), Counting Crows will drop their long-awaited new album, "Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings," which marks their first new studio release since 2002's "Hard Candy." Lead single "You Can't Count on Me" is streaming at the band's website.
Counting Crows have sold more than 20 million records to date, thanks in large part to their 1993 multi-platinum debut, "August and Everything After."
The bands will green-up the tour with the help of non-profit organization Reverb, which will also be on hand to educate and engage fans to promote environmental sustainability.
