Wilco eyes spring tour behind 'Sky'
The Chicagoans, who are currently touring Australia and New Zealand, kick off the home stretch April 30 in Rochester, MN. The 10-city outing--which includes shows in North Dakota, Montana and Colorado--concludes mid-month with a pair of two-night stands in Austin, TX, and St. Louis. All dates are below.
Pre-sales for most of the upcoming shows begin tomorrow (3/19), with public sales for most of the dates starting March 21. Check the official Wilco website for ticketing information on specific shows.
"Sky Blue Sky," the band's seventh studio album, follows 2004's "A Ghost is Born." The group self-produced the new set in its own Chicago studio, with TJ Doherty (Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady) handling recording chores and Jim Scott (The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dixie Chicks) doing the mixing.
The album arrived on The Billboard 200 album chart in the No. 4 spot, marking the band's highest debut ever.
The disc helped Wilco nab its fourth Grammy nomination in December, receiving a nod in the Best Rock Album category (it lost out to Foo Fighters' "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace"). The band, which has now received four Grammy nominations overall, scored two trophies with 2004's "A Ghost is Born," which took home wins for Alternative Rock Album and Best Recording Package.
