Trace Adkins ramps up 'American Man' trek
Country star Trace Adkins , who launched his "2008 American Man" outing in January, has added a slew of dates to the tour, which now stretches into fall.
The trek resumes April 5 in Valdosta, GA, and stops in US cities from coast to coast as well as Camrose, Alberta, through early October. Gigs include a host of fairs, festivals and casinos, and an April 26 performance at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. Details are listed below.
Adkins continues to support his latest album, "American Man, Greatest Hits Volume II," which bowed at No. 22 on The Billboard 200 in December. The set features three new songs, including the country hit "I Got My Game On," and the latest single, "You're Gonna Miss This," which is one of Adkins' fastest-rising hits to date, according to his website. Both tunes are streaming at the singer's MySpace page.
The humorous video for "I Got My Game On," which features country comedian Rodney Carrington, is up for three Country Music Television Awards at next month's ceremony.
In addition to his music career, Adkins has made a name for himself as an author and most recently, a reality-television personality. He's been competing on the current season of NBC-TV's "Celebrity Apprentice" to raise money for the Food Allergy Anaphylaxis Network because one of his daughters suffers from severe food allergies.
Adkins answers questions about his political views in his recent book, "A Personal Standard: Observations and Opinions from a Free-Thinking Roughneck," which also offers his thoughts on fame, parenting and personal responsibility. The Louisiana-native and father of five has plenty of stories to tell, as he's suffered through addiction and had several brushes with death, including the time he was shot by his ex-wife.
During his 12 years in the music business, Adkins has sold more than 7 million albums and scored about two-dozen hit singles, according to his MySpace page. His most recent studio set, 2006's "Dangerous Man," debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and spawned the No. 1 hit "Ladies Love Country Boys."
