K.D. Lang tacks Canadian run onto spring tour
K.D. Lang has added a leg of Canadian dates to her current headlining run, which continues this weekend as she supports her recently released "Watershed."
The singer/songwriter, who is scheduled to play Saturday night (3/15) in Buffalo, NY, has tacked on a new slate of shows in her home country starting in late May. The new shows follow a run through Australia and New Zealand scheduled for April and early May. Lang's Canadian and US dates are included below; her full international schedule can be glimpsed at her website.
"Watershed," which Lang recorded in California and self-produced, is the singer's tenth studio album and first set of all-new material since 2000's "Invincible Summer." The album, featuring 11 new Lang compositions, hit stores last month. The collection marks her first album of original material for the Nonesuch imprint after releasing most of her career output through the much larger Warner Bros. label.
"I've been making records for 25 years, which is a really, really long time these days," she told the Associated Press recently. "Now I've reached a place where I feel like it's really just about making records. I feel like the public attention is really honest, where it's more about my music and less about my personality."
Lang's previous studio set was 2004's "Hymns of the 49th Parallel," which featured covers of songs originally sung by various natives of the singer's home country of Canada, including material by Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen.
