The Audition hits the road hard

Chicago punk-pop rockers The Audition are continuing their relentless touring ways through summer, headlining the Spring Break 08 outing and then jumping onto the Vans Warped Tour .
The band, which is fresh off a sold-out UK tour, will play shows this week at Austin's South by Southwest festival and Plano, TX's South by So What? before launching the coast-to-coast Spring Break 08 trek March 18 in Charlotte, NC. Joining The Audition on that tour are Hit The Lights, Every Avenue, The Morning Light and Kiros.
When Spring Break 08 wraps in early May, The Audition will stop by the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, NJ, and then head overseas for another round of European dates. The guys will return to North America in time for the Vans Warped Tour, which kicks off June 20 in Pomona, CA. They'll take residence on Warped's Ernie Ball Stage as the trek visits 45 cities across the US and Canada through mid-August.

The Windy City quintet is supporting its sophomore set, "Champion," which broke into The Billboard 200 when it surfaced in January. The album continues The Audition's mix of pop, punk, dance, emo and rock, but approaches the sound with a new sense of maturity.
"A lot of the songs have a much more soulful and sexual vibe to them," drummer Ryan O'Connor said in the band's Victory Records bio. "On this record, we wanted to try and take the things that make us The Audition and make them better. We made the rock parts harder, the dance parts 'dancier' and the hooks catchier."

The band's 2005 debut, "Controversy Loves Company," has sold nearly 50,000 copies, according to Victory Records.
