Say Anything strengthens 'Defense' on spring trek
Alt-rockers Say Anything will kick off their latest headlining tour later this week as the band continues to support its recent double album, last fall's "In Defense of the Genre."
The California outfit--which recently was added to the bill of this summer's Van's Warped Tour--will kick off the run March 13 in the band's hometown of Los Angeles.
The 28-city outing, which is set to run through mid-April, will feature opening support from a trio of acts: Manchester Orchestra , Biffy Clyro and Weatherbox. Dates are below.
Released in October, the two-CD "In Defense of the Genre" was recorded in New York and California with producer Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair), and features a lengthy roll call of guest contributors, including members of My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, Rainer Maria, Saves The Day and Alkaline Trio, among others.
"It's the story of being alone and losing my mind and then overcoming that event by learning to trust and let go of that anger and fall in love for the first time," frontman Max Bemis said of the album's themes in an interview last year with AbsolutePunk.net.
"It's also about losing that love and the confusion that entails after, and the nature of first love; discovering what you really want, whether it be to give yourself totally to someone or explore the endless abyss and risk losing your mind again and that love."
