Ambulance Ltd returns from disabled list
Indie rockers Ambulance Ltd will return to the road next month--with an almost entirely new lineup--for their first live dates in more than two years.
The New York City-based group suffered a mass defection recently, leaving singer/guitarist Marcus Congleton as the sole remaining member. Congleton--along with freshly recruited bandmates Ezra Oklan (drums), Ian Fenger (guitar), Xander McMahon (keyboards) and Jeremy Kay (bass)--will kick off a short stretch of roadwork April 2 in Cambridge, MA.
The six-city outing will concentrate on clubs and small theaters near the East Coast, with Wild Light and Bear Hands providing opening support for all six shows. Dates are below.
"Ambulance has suffered some unwelcome reality doses in the past couple of years," Congleton said in a press release. "Many songs have been written and recorded but legal battles, interpersonal dramas, and spiritual meltdowns have stilted our sophomore effort."
The group released its debut album, "LP," in 2004, following it with a 2006 EP, "New English." The band had originally intended to have a new album ready by the end of last year, according to the group's website, but strife within the group and the bankruptcy proceedings of the band's current label, TVT Records, has put the release on indefinite hold.
"If there's ever a 'VH1: Behind The Music that's really good but not massively popular' I think our saga would be perfect," Congleton added. "But the good news is we're back with a bag of new songs and a damn good record is beginning to take shape. I am delighted to be returning to the stage."
