Eric Clapton adds new dates to North American tour
After winding up his New York City run with Steve Winwood , Eric Clapton has added a number of new dates to his rapidly expanding spring/summer tour.
The guitar legend currently has 13 appearances plotted for May and June, kicking off May 3 in Tampa, FL. The new dates bring Clapton back north after a Florida stretch for shows in New Jersey, New York and other East Coast destinations. All current dates are included below.
Full information regarding on sale dates for the upcoming shows can be found at Clapton's tour website.
Last week, Clapton wrapped up a sold-out, three-night stand with Steve Winwood at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The performers, who played together briefly in the 1960s supergroup Blind Faith, had not performed a full concert together in nearly 40 years. They connected last summer during an impromptu reunion at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago. Clapton also is featured on Winwood's latest single, "Dirty City," from his forthcoming album, "Nine Lives."
Clapton's latest studio effort, 2006's "The Road to Escondido," pairs the singer/guitarist with his hero, J.J. Cale, and recently snagged the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
Last October, Slowhand released "Complete Clapton," a two-disc career retrospective, to coincide with his memoirs, "Clapton: The Autobiography." Publisher Random House reportedly paid $4 million for the rights to Clapton's memoirs, which he co-wrote with Christopher Simon Sykes.
During his more than 40-year career, Clapton has been honored with 19 Grammys, including a Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also the first triple-inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; he's been honored as a solo artist and as a member of the bands Cream and The Yardbirds.
