O.A.R. ventures out next month

Roots-rockers O.A.R. will be back on the road this spring with US dates stretching from the Midwest to the East Coast.

The band will start next month with its first-ever tour of Australia and then launch stateside shows April 9 in Dahlonega, GA. The itinerary focuses on college venues, with special guests Sparky's Flaw, Melee, and Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights taking turns in the opening slots. O.A.R. will also perform at April's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and June's Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN. US dates are listed below and overseas shows can be found at the band's website.

O.A.R. continues to support last summer's "Live From Madison Square Garden," which captures the group's sold-out performance at the legendary venue in January 2007. The recording is offered as a double-CD set and a double-DVD collection, the latter of which includes a 90-minute feature film on the band, as well as the full concert.

In addition to backing the album with a major outing last summer, the band spent some time playing for US troops in Kuwait and Iraq. A video documenting that experience and paying tribute to the troops is streaming at YouTube.

"Live From Madison Square Garden" follows O.A.R.'s 2005 studio album, "Stories of a Stranger," which reached the Top 40 on The Billboard 200 and spawned radio-friendly hits "Love and Memories" and "Heard the World."

The members of O.A.R. got together more than 10 years ago while they were still in high school. By the time they graduated from college, they had released three albums on their own label, sold more than 300,000 copies and built a devoted college following, according to their bio. They joined forces with Lava Records for their 2003 major-label debut, "In Between Now and Then," and have since surpassed sales of 1.2 million.
