Travis Tritt storms across the US

Despite a legal battle with his label, Travis Tritt continues the push behind his latest album, "The Storm," and has added nearly a dozen dates to his spring/summer schedule.

The Grammy-winning country singer, who's been touring since fall, will resume his North American trek Saturday (3/1) in Charlotte, NC, and play a mix of club, theater, casino and festival dates across the US through late August. He'll also jump over to Canada Aug. 16 for Ontario's Havelock Country Jamboree. Details are listed below.

In September, Tritt released "The Storm" on indie upstart Category 5 Records. The singer has since sued the label, alleging it has failed to promote the album and failed to pay him royalties, among other things, according to Entertainment Law Digest.

"The Storm" marks Tritt's first new set of material in three years. Following 2004's highly acclaimed "My Honky Tonk History," he parted ways with Columbia Records due to differing opinions on that project's direction, according to a message posted at his website at the time.

The new album, which was co-produced by noted bass player and "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson, showcases Tritt's brand of blue-eyed country soul. The collaboration grew out of Tritt's appearance on "Overnight Sensational," an album that Jackson produced for Sam Moore in 2006.

"The Storm," which reached No. 3 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, includes tunes written by Tritt, Diane Warren, Rob Thomas and Hank Williams Jr., and features special guest performers including Charlie Daniels and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

The record scored a country hit with the Richard Marx-penned song "You Never Take Me Dancing," which is Tritt's 40th Top 40 single.
