Atmosphere squeezes 'Lemons' for spring road trip
Underground hip-hop outfit Atmosphere is set to unveil its new material on the road during a spring tour that coincides with the release of the group's latest full-length album.
The Midwestern duo of vocalist Slug (real name Sean Daley) and production wiz Ant (Anthony Davis) will mark the April 22 release of "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That S**t Gold" with the first of back-to-back shows in Chicago on the same day the new disc drops.
The 14-city trek will keep the pair busy for close to a month, with multi-night engagements set for Los Angeles, San Francisco and Austin, TX, in addition to the above-mentioned Chicago shows. All dates are shown below.
"When Life Gives You Lemons ...," the duo's sixth studio album, follows 2005's "You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having," which snagged the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and reached No. 66 on The Billboard 200.
A limited edition version of the forthcoming set will be packaged as a 40-page hardcover book with gold embossing; the deluxe set will also include a bonus DVD featuring live footage and other material from the group's recent "Everybody Loves a Clown" tour.
While working on "Lemons," the duo continued to crank out various presents for its fans, including several new entries in the pair's "Sad Clown" series of EPs and a full-length "interim" album the group made available in December as a free online download.
"It's great for first dates, crappy house parties, or to play in the background while you Google yourself again," Slug said of the 13-track album on indie label Rhymesayer's Atmosphere page.
