Sara Bareilles breaks out on headlining jaunt
The up-and-comer, who is riding high on her adult-contemporary/pop hit "Love Song," is currently opening for James Blunt on the "You Oughta Know" tour, which launched earlier this month. After wrapping "You Oughta Know" dates in March and playing a few of her own shows, Bareilles will officially kick off her headlining jaunt April 14 in Milwaukee.
Special guest Rachel Yamagata will open the club/theater tour, and Raining Jane and David Ford will appear on select dates. Tickets go on sale Saturday (2/23). Bareilles' full itinerary is listed below.
"As more people discover my music, it's more exciting than ever to be on the road," Bareilles said in a statement announcing the tour. "Performance continues to be what grounds me--just taking it one show at a time and seeing new faces at each stop along the way."
The singer/pianist is supporting her gold-certified debut album, "Little Voices," which surfaced in July and reached No. 15 on The Billboard 200. Since then, Bareilles has received plenty of mainstream exposure, singing her lead single, "Love Song," on network television programs including "The Today Show," "Regis & Kelly," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Jimmy Kimmel," as well as starring in a quirky television commercial for the Rhapsody music service.
"Love Song" and the followup single, "Bottle It Up," are streaming at Bareilles' MySpace page, along with a few other tracks from "Little Voices."
